Hi all first day at 914 Squadron Glastonbury, Somerset. All the names are censored for good reasons. This was on monday so my memory is a bit faded but ill give it my best shot...

Saturday 9th May 2009

Went to the open day at the cadets. We watched drill displays, flew on the flight sim, looked at maps, watched the T family having a shooting competition, and of course we met the CO to talk about joining so we got a form of him and went home to fill it in.

Monday 11th May 2009

First day as a cadet so now i am 2nd Class Recruit J of Hawk Flight. At 7:00 we went to the flight sim room to watch some introductory films while the CO dealt with some things. Corporal S (from my school) explained all the different things wilst we waited for the CO to come back. 7:20 we met all the flight sergeants out side wilst the others did drill. Then we started learning all the parts of drill from one of the FS'. 8:00 joined the main group to 'copy' them. 8:40 had break. 8:45 Played treasure hunt in pairs to make new friends. 9:15 Drill and all the fancy stuff with the CO and FS T, they then talked to all the people about summer camp and the trip to HMS B. 9:35 Went home.

Thursday 14th May 2009

Second day now i know more people and more of the drill so it should be a lot easyer. We went to the Drill Hall because it was raining and did our drill stuff in there. 8:00 Had a briefing on our night exercise (i forgot the operation name) where we where SAS groups dropped behind enemy lines with parts of artillery guns. Sadly the wind had scattered them when the parashooted down so first we had to colect all the parts which where... A long thick heavy pole for the barrel, two tires, a tresle for the stand, a chair for the gunner, and a box of ammo. This was scattered around an area in the Tor Leisure Centre so we had to find all the parts as a team (anyone caught away from there team would get the team disqualified) when we did this we had to run back through the training centre with all the equipment which would be checked then we could cross the road we then had to run along street road with all the stuff, double back on our selfes, then run up wirreal hill to the very top assemble the gun. Then the whole team had to yell "BANG" then a staff member would check its all done right then we got to run down the hill (in the rain) with all the equipment then go back to the compound assemble the gun yell bang then sit down and wait for the last team. We where then inspected by the CO who named our guns (of course my team where british) then told us to go on ahead to the Tor Leasure Centre (TLC) go to the other end assemble the guns yell bang then run back (still with the equipment) around the perimiter back to the compound where we got a good shouting at. My team Came 3rd and 2nd and we left last on both of the runs. We then did drill till 9:30 from around 9:00. Also the 'newbies' got there overalls today (yes i am a newbie) we keep them at home for use until we get our combats and blues.
Well a tireing week but worth it.
